Watch! Time is short

Mark 13:37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

The hour of death is uncertain; the second coming of Jesus equally so. Therefore we are commanded to be ready always on the watch. His coming is the grand object of our faith, and should be our daily desire and prayer. It will be unimaginably glorious. The Apostle Paul calls it our glorious hope, the climatic conclusion of history. But the timing of it knows no man, for God has purposely concealed it, in wisdom and mercy and for our good. He commands us to watch and keep awake, to be at our post and busy in our calling. In our watching we must be convinced daily, fervently believing Jesus will come any moment, and praying to be found ready.–Daily Remembrancer November 11 Morning

We hear news of disaster all the time. We see in every generation someone predicting the end of the world. It has even become a theme in the world. For example, there were movies made of the ‘end of the world in 2012’. There was some prediction they say from a Mayan calendar. And the world made capital of it in advertising and parties etc.

But we should not be so complacent thinking that the Lord is asleep and He delays His return as some in the church do.

No, time is short and He has given us a great job to do to preach the gospel to the whole world. Then, once this job is done, Christ said we should watch for His return.

We should note the signs of the times, the workings of our own hearts and our daily conduct. We should walk and transact every business as though Jesus was at the door. Would you, beloved wish to be found idle, or contentious, or murmuring, or indulging in sin? If not, flee these things! Put off the old man, and put on the new!–Daily Remembrancer November 11 Morning

The Christian church in general is asleep. They are just playing at church, a game. Where are those soldiers of Christ? Where are those who are struggling daily in the fields white unto harvest?

Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest

John 5:34 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

We need to get our priorities and our focus right. What are you doing for Jesus?
