I just finished reading the book “Dissolving Illusions: Disease, Vaccines, and the Forgotten History” by Suzanne Humphries, MD and Roman Bystrianyk. If you haven’t read it I highly recommend you do so.
The book cover the past two hundred year history of the development of vaccines starting with Dr Jenner’s treatment using cowpox pus scraped from the belly of a cow, to treat patients for smallpox. Past epidemics are analysed in light of the introduction of the so-called vaccinations. The authors include the histories of many common diseases of a few centuries ago, and explain how and when the vaccines were introduced.
The diseases include smallpox, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough (pertussis) and measles. There is no doubt that these diseases were once very serious with very high death rates. But the evidence is that there were factors other than vaccines that primarily were the cause for their diminishing mortality as we approached the 20th century.
Read about the shocking histories of vaccines for polio and smallpox. It would seems that this information has all but been forgotten from the public square. It is no overstatement to say that these vaccines caused far more harm than any good they may have conferred on a few. But don’t believe me read the details in the book yourself.
In the 18th and 19th centuries living conditions were appalling. The average person including children worked extremely long hours under inhuman conditions and lived in total squalor. Drinking water was polluted, and their food was often rotten and contaminated, and people seldom ever bathed. Then there was the problem of sewage; it just cast into the streets. No sewage systems and treatment plants like we are used to today. It created a perfect breeding ground for all sorts of disease. It make epidemics of smallpox, polio, cholera, typhus, typhoid fever common place.
From the begging of the 20th century began there was a general improvement in all of these environmental factors. The general health of the people of England and the US greatly improved because of this and as a result their resistance to disease also increased.
The authors document all of this. They show the mortality from different epidemics, when they occurred and when different vaccines were introduced. The data show is that in most cases when a vaccine was introduced the mortality rate had already decreased by more than 99% compared to the peak deaths in the past. This includes for smallpox, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough and measles. Thus there was never any reason to develop a vaccine.
But what is most disconcerting is that the evidence shows that the vaccines for smallpox, polio and others caused big problems because the vaccines themselves became the vehicle to actually spread diseases, like smallpox (the virus the vaccine was meant to guard against). Foot and mouth disease was another spread from diseased cows used for Jenner’s cowpox pus vaccination for smallpox. Contamination was hardly understood and vaccines were the perfect agency to infect many people. Many died from those vaccines. In some cases the vaccines were killing more people than the wild viruses.
The best way to illustrate this explanation is from a plot of the mortality of some diseases. This one shown below is Graph 17.9 (p. 472). Here we see the mortality rates for England and Wales from scarlet fever, measles and whooping cough (pertussis) expressed as a percentage from peak mortality rates, from 1838 to 1978.
The plots clearly show the massive decrease in mortality from these diseases as we head towards the 1950s. The was no vaccine for scarlet fever but it also decreased mortality along with measles and whooping cough.
Note when the measles and whooping cough (pertussis) were introduced. Mortality rates had already fallen by 99.96% and 99.74% before the vaccines were used. They same story is true for smallpox, polio and many other diseases that vaccines were developed for.
This, there is no way that one can argue that the vaccines were the cause of the reduction of the diseases in society. Epidemics occurred in some cases where they had already achieved above 90% vaccination rates. And those levels of vaccination were only achieved through mandatory legislation. But the vaccines did nothing to reduce deaths — in fact — they caused many deaths and other serious health impairments that seem to be totally ignored.
The book also highlight the very limited knowledge scientists had/have about how the human body works. By introducing some agents into the body many unintended consequences. One example is the pertussis vaccine. It actually amplified the severity of the disease. Just of the opposite of what it was supposed to do. That vaccine caused many serious health consequences including death.
Knowing this about the history of vaccines gives me absolutely no confidence in the safety and efficacy of any vaccine developed for COVID-19. It is running its cause and according to the US CDC currently has a mortality rate less than 0.3%. This is about double that of a bad influenza epidemic. Yet some of the diseases (small pox, cholera etc) two hundred years ago killed 100 times that amount. So why have governments shut down the world economy and instigated marshal law? The answer is in the evil heart of man without Christ.
