Never before in human history has there been such a coordinated campaign to convince humans to dishonor the design of their bodies. Since the onset of the Sexual Revolution in the 1960s, there has been a concerted effort to thwart the normal functioning of biology. It seems no coincidence that the era of “free love” was birthed around the same time that hormonal contraceptives were introduced, promising predictable prevention of unwanted births.
Hippies were told to “enjoy” free love, to throw off the marital inhibitions of their parents. But to do so, to copulate without constraint, necessarily resulted in certain consequences: did anyone really want to bring a child into the world with that guy or gal they just met yesterday? Alas! What to do? For some, the “pill” became the fuel for the engine of sexual promiscuity, promising sexual pleasure unhinged from sexual responsibilities, an unprecedented upheaval in the ordering of human relations.
The advent of hormonal contraception was initially presented as a means for married couples to space the birth of their children. But in short order, laws prohibiting the sale of such contraceptive medication to the unmarried were ruled “unconstitutional”. Over time, sex outside the bounds of marriage became more and more common, as sex came to be seen merely as a recreational activity, that deserved, in an enlightened world, to be detached from cumbersome, lifelong commitments.
The new contraceptive technologies did not come without drawbacks however. Since these methods of controlling conception invariably failed from time to time, and since sexual pleasure outside of marriage had been elevated to the status of a “human right”, a backup plan for unplanned pregnancies became a necessity. After all, a baby couldn’t be allowed to interfere with the pursuit of happiness or the climb up the corporate ladder! Like dominoes, prohibitions against abortion began falling around the world, ushering in the widespread practice of violently removing a human being from the protection of his mother’s womb.
Our society has embraced rebellion against God’s design for our bodies in other ways, as well. It does not take a very large intellectual leap to see how the same society that would willfully sterilize its procreative processes for pleasure or convenience, would soon wholeheartedly endorse sexual acts that have been sterile since time immemorial; the recent rise and acceptance of homosexual relations and so-called “marriage” ignore the inherent sexual function of the body ordered toward a specific procreative purpose by the Creator.
Indeed, the denial of God’s divine attributes, which are clearly seen in His Creation, always results in humanity being given up to “dishonorable passions”, men and women giving up natural relations with the opposite sex for those “contrary to nature”. And since we do not “see fit to acknowledge God” in our society, God is giving us up to an even more debased mind, to do those things which ought not to be done (Romans 1:26-27).
Young children are even being systematically indoctrinated to deny the sex God gave them in their mother’s womb. They are being taught that a family does not require a father & mother committed to each other for life. They are being targeted by purveyors of pornography who want to trap them into a lifelong addiction to sin.
The danger of deception has never been so intense for young people! Saint John, the beloved Apostle, said that the “spirit of… antichrist, which you heard was coming… now is in the world already (1 John 4:3).” We see this antichrist spirit at every turn, especially in the sexual propaganda now being aimed at our children. The ultimate agenda is to convince our children that there is no God whose divine attributes can be clearly seen in His Creation – there is no purpose for how their bodies were created male or female. So why not just dispense with the idea of God altogether?
We parents and grandparents have a sacred duty to help protect our children from the incessant influence of the antichrist spirit, as we help teach them God’s divine purpose for their sexuality.
