Grand Solar Minimums and the Fall of Empires: A Great Crash Looms

Earth is gradually sliding into its next Ice Age, and has been doing so for the past 10,000 years. Today, modern civilization is on the cusp of a stratospheric fall, and it’s all to do with the Sun.

Societies flourish during times of warmth and high solar activity, the periods of Minoan, Roman and Medieval Warming are evidence of this.

Successful civilizations are built on the presumed constant and predictable climate that comes with solar maximums, and a civilizations reliance on its fragile infrastructure only grows as the decades of reliable climate pass.

But when the constant is broken, it’s broken fast, and the system can’t adapt quickly enough to cope with the descending cold — overlaying the peak of past civilizations atop the GISP2 Ice Core data clearly illustrates the pattern:

Civilizations flourish during times of warmth, and crumble soon after the cold sets in.

Please Note: Ice Core timelines do not have an absolute calibration. They are based on a proxy – Oxygen isotope studies. The past dates for the peaks and troughs depends on your worldview. In a biblical creationist model the ages older than about 4000 years compress to a maximum age of about 4500 years, which is the time of the Global Flood. But the peaks and troughs of ice sheet temperatures from about 3000 years ago (well after the Flood) up to the present are more reliably dated. — John G Hartnett

Global cooling coming

You think this southern hemisphere winter is cold, according to Professor Valentina Zharkova,1 reported on Channel 9 News here in Australia, solar activity, such as sunspots, will drop up to 60 percent by 2030 and plunge the planet into a mini Ice Age.2,3 She makes the connection in her research between solar irradiance and the earth’s weather and sunspots are an indication of the cyclic activity of the sun.

In only 15 years time we should be in the middle of a mini-Ice Age. After this weekend in Adelaide, South Australia–located on the edge of the Antarctic Ocean–I am inclined to believe such a report. It has been cold!

This is the same prediction that John L. Casey made in his bookDark Winter, How the Sun Is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell” where he predicted a period of extreme cold by the year 2030. In fact, he predicts it will last 30 years, a period similar to the “Dalton Minimum” around 1810 or even worse, the “Maunder minimum”, which lasted from 1645 to 1715.

The coming long dark winter?

Dark Winter

book long dark winterIn his book “Dark Winter, How the Sun Is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell,”1 John L. Casey outlines a distinctively different interpretation of so-called ‘global warming.’ Casey makes the claim that, in 2007, he announced to the world, to those who would listen anyway, that the Earth would from that time on undergo a massive cooling period, which would last for about 30 years.

Casey developed his theory around what he calls solar hibernation. This is an expression to describe the state of the Sun when it exhibits a long period of low sunspot number. That is called solar minimum by the space science community.

Casey documents a theory that the Sun is absolutely the main driving force for Earth weather. Solar irradiance is the energy flux experienced at the Earth, and human kind cannot do anything about it.

There are many websites, both for and against anthropogenic global warming, now called ‘climate change’ but Casey’s theory is different. He is not the only engineer or scientist to notice a correlation between sunspot activity and global temperatures, but he adds 32 other physical reasons (lines of evidence) that corroborate his theory, in Appendix 3 titled: “Press Release: Global Warming Has Ended; the Next Climate Change Has Begun.
