Who is the rock?

One of the most misunderstood passages of Scripture is the account when the Apostle Peter acknowledges Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God. The Father through Holy Spirit reveals to Peter who Jesus is  (Matthew 16:13-20, Mark 8:27-30; Luke 9:18-20; John 6:66-71).

This is the passage where Jesus speaks of building His church upon a rock, and where He gives to Peter the “keys to the kingdom.” The Papacy falsely claims this as proof of their claim to be the lawful head of Christ’s Church on Earth.  The Roman Church also claims a continuous succession of popes from Peter, who they claim as their first pope. In addition they assert that Jesus giving Peter the “keys” means that Peter, at that time, was given temporal authority over the whole Christian Church. Thus that same authority passed to all succeeding Bishops of Rome, popes, who claim to be Christ’s representative on Earth, or actually a substitute Christ.

Who is the Day Star?

From one of the very first weeks of Creation, in the Garden of Eden, Satan, the Devil, has tried to usurp the power of the Creator God. Satan is also called Lucifer, a name derived from the Latin words “Luc” meaning “light” and “ferre” meaning “bearer.”

A powerful angel was he created, the number one angel in heaven, the “bearer of the light.” But he was not happy with that and wanted to be God himself. So he rebelled, because of his pride, and has been rebelling against God and His created order ever since.

Though cast down from his former state, he continues to pass himself off as a pure and good being.

Real cost of being a believer

Recently (February 2015) we heard the terrible news of the martyrdom of the 21 young Egyptian Christian men in Libya, murdered at the hands of the Islamic death cult called ISIS, or Islamic State. For the full story JihadWatch or ChristianNews.com.au.

When the General Director of the Bible Society of Egypt, Ramez Atallah, heard this news the society very quickly put together a tract and printed more than one million copies.

Daniel 10-11 prophecy

The last three chapters in the book of Daniel really form one unit. The traditional chapter divisions in part obscure this fact. Here we deal with Daniel chapters 10 and 11 together.  (All bold are my emphases added. Square brackets [ ] indicate meanings of words. King James Version Easy-Reading Bible (KJVER) used.)

Daniel 10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia1 a thing [message] was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing [message], and had understanding of the vision.

Daniel was mourning for three weeks when God somehow transported him in spirit and gives him his final vision. He finds himself besides the river Tigris, which was called Hiddekel (probably named that after the river in Eden of the same name).

Babylon though was located besides the great Euphrates river.

It appears that either an angel or God Himself in his theophany2  appeared to Daniel to reveal the vision.

We can return to Jesus

Psalms 116:7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

There is no rest for the Christian but at the feet of Jesus; when we live near Him, and exercise our faith upon Him, we are at rest. Conscience is silent or commends us. The law has nothing to say against us. Walking close to the Lord, the world has but little influence over us; and Satan is powerless to do us harm. But if we wander away, we become weak and lose courage; and darkness, perplexity, and trouble fill our minds. But we may return, for Jesus is still inviting us; we must return or we cannot enjoy peace; let us therefore return unto our rest this morning.  –Daily Remembrancer November 30 Morning

In 1974 I left off further education, deciding not to continue to do a PhD then but rather to follow God. See From a saved Christian to disciple of Christ–my testimony Part II.

I remember the feeling at the time of utter exhilaration of finding the Lord’s path, to follow and serve Him; to go out into the world with essentially nothing but Christ.

Overcoming demons through Jesus’ Name

Kyle’s testimony of his salvation and overcoming fear from demons at night through the power of Jesus’ Name.

Kyle PellerinI was born and raised in a Christian family, as a young child the idea of heaven and the life after death was a great fantasy I wished would be fulfilled. Although my parents were never forceful of attending Church nor reading the Bible, I fully was convinced that Jesus and God was real. Although later in life, this idea was only reassured as the only possibility. In my life I’ve experience a lot of spiritual warfare but it’s only brought myself closer to Jesus.

Ever since I’ve been young, I’ve been able to sense if something is with me or close to me in the current room. It’s difficult to describe, although this feeling is associated with fear and that someone is watching you. When I was young, this feeling scared me. I would only get it when I was alone and when I didn’t feel safe. Now, I’ve come to realise this feeling was me sensing the presence of a demon.

“Be thou faithful unto death.”

The Lord calls his followers to be faithful unto death, to we die in His service, proclaiming and defending  the gospel.  How can we if we are so weak? But our God is faithful and He does it through us. All the glory to God!

I often get up in front of large audiences to speak on Creation/evolution issues, or on biblical creation and the origin of the universe, or on faults with atheistic or even theistic big bang thinking. I have been doing that in one form or another for 40 years now. But nearly every time before I get up to speak I am attacked by some spiritual forces trying to stop me doing it. Sometime this comes through my bodily weaknesses, and I feel sick, nauseated and sometimes even have had attacks like feeling feverish.
