Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin standing on the lunar surface July 1969

Over 54 years ago now Neil Armstrong and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin landed on the moon. They were the first humans to do so (as far as we know, ha!). This was the pinnacle achievement of NASA’s Apollo program. Their landing was part of the Apollo 11 mission, which also included astronaut Michael Collins, who remained in the orbiting Command Module. I believe the last mission to successfully land was Apollo 17.

I remember that day 20 July 1969 when I stayed home from high school to watch the televised landing of Neil Armstrong stepping down onto the lunar surface.

I didn’t understood at that time the relevance of why he hesitated before jumping off the ladder of the Lunar Module onto the surface. According to evolutionary cosmology the solar system formed about 5 billion years ago. About 4.5 billion years ago the moon condensed from the primordial cloud that formed the sun. That’s one model anyway. I have shown how weak their evolutionary models are. On this website I have many posts on the topic.

Allegedly over the billions of years since formation of the moon the relentless solar radiation, with day and night extreme variations of temperature, would break up the lunar regolith forming fine dirt kilometers deep. So it was believed. As well as there would be a continual rain of fine dust captured by the moon’s gravity and without an atmosphere it would simply settle and accumulate over deep time. Therefore it was believed that the lunar surface could be covered by moon dust kilometers deep. Neil was just making sure he would not sink beneath the surface. That is why they noted it was only a few inches deep.

While working at the University of Western Australia, around 2010, I met an old Australian physicist Brian O’Brien who had won a NASA medal for a radiation experiment in 1973. But he is best known for his lunar dust detector, which he invented on a flight between Los Angeles and Houston.  At that time, he told us about his lunar Dust Detector Experiment (DDE) placed on the moon by the Apollo astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

O’Brien’s moon dust experiment on board Apollo 11 was a scientific experiment to measure moon dust, which NASA had advertised in 1965 for experiments to be put on the moon by the astronauts and left there as long-lasting observations of the lunar environment. The measurements by O’Brien’s invention are the first comprehensive research analyses of the only quantitative, direct, and active lunar-surface measurements of this perceived problem.

He also developed a Charged Particle Lunar Environment Experiment (CPLEE), to detect radiation. But because of his concern for the dust contaminating his experiment he developed the Dust Detector Experiment (DDE). The point in explaining all this is that he is a real scientist who successfully had numerous pieces of equipment for scientific measurements placed on the lunar surface by the astronauts themselves. It was by astronauts from Apollo missions 11, 12, 14, and 15.

And by the way the kilometers of dust weren’t there which knocked out another support for the naturalistic origin of the moon. Back to the drawing board on that!

Apollo 14 ALSEP shows Brian’s CPLEE in foreground and Dust Detector Experiment (DDE) in top-right corner of the Central Processing Unit (CPI) in background. Brian is the only scientist who is Principal Investigator of experiments on the Moon in two different scientific disciplines, Radiation and Movements of Dust.

However over the past 20 years at least, since YouTube essentially, several, then many, people have claimed it was all a hoax and no one ever went there. All the film footage was made in a film studio by Stanley Kubrick, allegedly.

You might ask how could you keep silent 400,000 NASA employees and associated ground staff around the world? Even the Parkes radio-telescope (Australia) was used to relay the signal from the spacecraft to Houston. This was necessary due to the rotation of the planet Earth, a globe. When NASA moved out of line of sight of the Apollo spacecraft another telescope was able to receive their signal. In fact NASA had already established at least 30 ground stations on five continents; several islands; and aboard ships sailing the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans for this purpose. No need to do any of that if Earth is flat.

For it to be a hoax, the scale of the alleged cover up is beyond human capabilities. It is beyond nonsense.

Now there is a claim that some former Russian Space Chief told President Putin that the US didn’t land on the moon. More hoax I am afraid. The following short video reflects my views. I am sorry it is from Voice of America (VoA) a US government funded agency.

In that video they mention corner-cube reflectors that earth based labs reflect laser pulses from to measure, to centimeter accuracy, the Earth-Moon distance. They were hand placed on the lunar surface by Apollo astronauts. That is another big issue to solve if you say humans never set foot on the moon. How many labs routinely make those measurement daily?

Sometime we need to take a breath and not believe everything that ever happened was a lie. Human ingenuity has achieved a lot, a lot of which we take for granted today.
