Two years ago my mother came to trust in the Lord Jesus. At the time she was 92 years old. That was an amazing day when she called me and said that she now understood what I had been talking about for the last 50 years. She said that it now all made sense. She even said that all the bible stories she had heard as a child made sense now. That is the revelation of the Holy Spirit that showed her that.
It was nothing short of a miracle of God.
Since then she has been witnessing and giving small booklets of the gospel of John to people she meets. She has been so excited by this and often tell me that the Lord answers her prayers.
But she was not always like this.
When I was about 11 years old my mother separated from my father and left me and my brother with our grandparents. My brother and I were passed around from year to year to live with grandparents or my father or mother. But we became collateral damage in the marriage break up. From age 11 I had no family home and saw very little of my parents at all.
Years later when thinking about this the Lord gave me this verse:
10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
Psalm 27:10 AKJV
The Lord became my father and my brother. The Holy Spirit became my mother.

No matter what happens in your life the Lord will never forsake you. He also is there waiting for you. It is only a matter of you turning to Him.
5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5 ESV
I can honestly say that that has been my life.
The amazing thing is that God gets His greatest victories out of seeming defeats.
For about 50 years I prayed for and explained the gospel message to my mother. But she just couldn’t understand how a loving God could judge the sinner when he hadn’t done anything much wrong and had lived a ‘good life’.
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:23-24 AKJV
This was totally beyond her understanding.
That is until one day in September 2023. On that day God revealed to her at the age of 92 what Christ’s free gift, which He paid for on the cross, meant. Christ hadn’t given up on her.
Neither had He forsaken me.
It was in my twentieth year as an undergraduate in university in 1972 that Christ revealed Himself to me. It was by revelation. No one witnessed to me. The Lord reached down and broke through to my heart.
Now I am writing this to tell you that Christ saves. It is His work. He does it by revelation. It is a supernatural work of God.
29 Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he has sent.
John 6:29 AKJV
No matter where you are or where your loved ones are in their journey on planet Earth God can save and He does so over and over again. He has chosen His own and not one of them is lost.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1 Peter 2:9-20 AKJV
All His chosen are those who trust in Him. There is no ethnicity, race, colour, creed or ancestry in this. God chooses His own. If He has called you out of the darkness be thankful you were chosen and not forgotten. Your family are all those who believe.
29 And every one that has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundred times, and shall inherit everlasting life.
Matthew 19:29 AKJV
Thank God for that! I can personally say that that promise has been fulfilled in my life. Also I get the added bonus on seeing my fail, aged mother, who has very little time left in this world, come to know and trust in Jesus Christ.
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
