The mainstream media propaganda machines are so fined tuned to give the impression that if a Christian does not support the modern political state of Israel as the fulfilment of Bible prophecy for God’s “chosen people” — the modern day Jews — then you must be a supporter of terrorists such as ISIS, Al Qaeda or the likes of Hamas.
Nothing could be further from the truth!
To start with, a true follower of Jesus Christ does not follow any evil political and/or religious ideology, and especially those who murder the innocents and steal their homes. They do not support any authoritarian power over another people group because they are not the same ethnicity or sect or religion.
Jesus Christ said as part of his most famous Olivet discourse:
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matthew 5:9 AKJV
True followers of Jesus Christ should try to live with all men and women in peace regardless of the faith they hold.
The Earth is covered with billions of people who hold to other beliefs and religions and political ideologies. Our goal as followers of Jesus Christ is to reach all people with the good news, the gospel, of Jesus Christ’s saving grace. It is available to all and not restricted by race, ethnicity or creed.
Not all Jews are of the Jewish faith. Many hold to the Jewish faith but many are non-believers, atheists, and secular. Not all Arabs are Muslims. Many Arabs are Christians. Many are Muslim believers but they are not all head-chopping crazy Wahhabis and/or supporters of terrorist groups like ISIS, Al Qaeda etc.
These head-chopping ISIS-like groups were created and funded by Israel’s Mossad, the CIA and the UK’s MI6. They are political tools use to destabilise the Middle Eastern nations that stand in the way of US hegemony and the Greater Israel project.
It is a divide and conquer program to separate those who would resist against the US and Israeli occupation of their respective countries. So groups like ISIS are funded and used for this purpose.
The entire concept of “good guys” and “bad guys” has now been shown to be a lie. Iran was demonised for decades by the West to prepare the masses to accept their invasion and regime change but in the recent 12-day war Iran successfully resisted the US/Israel aggression. It is argued by some that none of the aggressors’ objectives were achieved and that Iran therefore was the victor. To me that is irrelevant. The issue is that innocent people were murdered by the aggression.
The US and Israel were the aggressor nations in that war. That fact cannot be denied. They attacked a nation that had not attacked them. Israel previously attacked Iran many times and Iran responded proportionally on some of those occasions, but sometimes they didn’t respond at all.
Israel and the US have been the aggressors in almost every war they have been involved with since the middle of the last century. Those wars have all been hegemonic conquests and colonialism to take land or control the resources of the conquered nations.
So why would a true follower of Jesus Christ support such wars? Jesus would not. He never ordered anyone fight a physical war against another nation. He said the opposite.
27 But I say to you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which spitefully use you. … 35 But love you your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. 36 Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Luke 6:27-28, 35-36 AKJV
Wars result from greed and desire to take something that belongs to another.
1 From where come wars and fights among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2 You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not. 3 You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your lusts.
James 4:1-3 AKJV
And don’t bring up the Crusades! They were unrighteous wars, because Jesus clearly stated to Pontius Pilot that His war is not in the flesh but a spiritual war for the souls of men.
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence [here].
John 18:36 AKJV
The reason is simple. God’s kingdom is not of this world.
Christian Zionism promotes an unbiblical eschatology, a false interpretation of God’s plan of salvation. Before Christ came and died on the cross it was the case that nation of Israel was to carry the message of salvation to the world (which they never did). That nevertheless was to be through Christ by looking forward from the Old Testament revelation. That was a progressive revelation by God.
16 For truly he [Jesus Christ] took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Why in all things it behooved him to be made like to his brothers, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
Hebrews 2:16-17 AKJV
After Christ, the old priesthood was finished and the body of believers (the assembly, the Church) are those who are meant to carry Christ’s salvation message to the world.
The believers, derived from all races, ethnicities and creeds are now the true Israel of God. The old covenant is finished and the new covenant established by Jesus Christ is all that is needed. Old Israel is now irrelevant to the gospel message.
So, in war, who do should followers of Jesus Christ support? The winners? The strongest? The “righteous” West?
None of those!
Only stand with those who stand with Jesus Christ. Those who defend the innocent, who do not murder for the sake of wealth and things of this world. That might mean losing your life for Christ as you share His message even in the depths of chaos and war.
Self defence does not mean attacking another group, tribe, race or country. A “pre-emptive” strike on another country is not self defence. It is aggression.
Just because you don’t like another race or tribe does not mean you have a right to curse and demonise them, or steal their land and wealth. The New Testament principle Christ taught His followers was to live peacefully with all men.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
