Study the Word

A bible study on why we should daily study God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures. (All bold are my emphases added. Square brackets [ ] indicate meanings of words. King James Version Easy-Reading Bible (KJVER) used.)

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

God wants us to study and meditate on His Word day and night, and do all that is written in it.

Deuteronomy 6:6,7 And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart: 7 And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

We need to study and memorise the Word to get it into our hearts and to pass it onto our children and others. When and where? Always and everywhere.

Psalms 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to Your word.

The Word is the way to clean up your life.

Psalms 119:11 Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

Hide the Word in your heart, memorise it and it is like a shield against sin.

Psalms 119:18 Open You my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.

Open your eyes and God will reveal wonders from his Word.

Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.

God’s Word is a light in this dark world, to show us the way to proceed.

Psalms 119:130 The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Psalm 119:160 Your word is true from the beginning: and every one of Your righteous judgments endures for ever

The Word of God is true from the beginning, from the creation of time itself. You can trust what it says.

1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain.

Memorise it! It does not mean you will lose you salvation if you don’t, but rather it will light your way in the journey you have in this world, unto that day of salvation, when you meet Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study [Be diligent] to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Study, and with the Holy Spirit teaching us we can understand what the truth is here. Through the Word we believe, and because of that we are victorious in the world that is always against God’s way.

1 John 5:4,5 For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Where does faith come from?

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

2 John 9 Whosoever transgresses, and abides [lives] not in the doctrine [teaching] of Christ, has not [doesn’t belong to] God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.

If a person does not study and live in the doctrine of Christ, he does not have the truth that only God gives.
