In these last days the Lord is calling to His children, calling them to repentance. Time is short. Darkness now descends on the world.

Who are God’s people? You say the Church. Well, who are the Church? Are they not all the believers, both Jewish and non-Jewish? Without distinction. There is no such thing as the Church, the Bride of Christ AND the Jewish Christians as the Wife of God. It is all one body, one nation of the saved.

They are ONE assembly of all those who put their trust in Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour, regardless of race, ethnicity, skin colour, sex, wealth or privilege.

16b … for you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 17 Why come out from among them, and be you separate, said the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 18 And will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, said the Lord Almighty.

2 Corinthians 6:16b-18

The word ‘church’ used in the Bible is translated from the Greek word ἐκκλησία (ekklésia) and is pronounced ek-klee-siy’-a. It means an ‘assembly’, or ‘called out ones’, the body of the true believers.

The Greek word ekklesia (Strongs G1577) does have the meaning of an ‘assembly’, but its primary meaning is the ‘called out ones’. It is derived from ek meaning ‘from out of’ (Strongs G1537) and a derivative of kaleo ‘to call aloud or call forth’ (Strongs G2564).

48 Howbeit the most High dwells not in temples made with hands; as says the prophet,

Acts 7:48

The Lord God through the Holy Spirit dwells not in buildings but humans yielded to His will. Most of Christ’s disciples were Jews, but the Scripture makes no distinction.

16 Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

The cohort of believers is the assembly yet each of us are the temple of God. This is because the Holy Spirit dwells in each of us. The word ‘holy’ means ‘separated’ ie. called out, apart form the world.

What? know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?

1 Corinthians 6:19

It is our body which is the true temple of the Holy Spirit. In that last passage the Apostle Paul warns against committing sin in our earthly bodies. The quite famous verses 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 warn us against such sins as homosexuality, adultery, fornication, drunkenness, etc, for those who commit them shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

If your church does not preach against those sins they are not in the kingdom of God. Get out of that church; it is a satanic cult compromised with the world.

The stones of God’s true Church, the ekklesia, are made of flesh, humans who believe in Him.

15 He says to them, But whom say you that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also to you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church [Greek: ekklesia] ; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:15-18

The rock which Jesus builds His ekklesia on is the fact that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

2 To the church [ekklesia] of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

1 Corinthians 1:2

The word ‘sanctified’ means ‘to make holy, to set apart to God and apart (alienate) from the world’. The true ekklesia is separated and cleansed from the world.

14 Be you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what concord has Christ with Belial? or what part has he that believes with an infidel? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols?

2 Corinthians 6:14-16a

If your church promotes/idolises the world, by taking deadly bioweapon shots, and restricting your religious speech against the sins of the world, including the trans mutilation of children and gender affirming nonsense, get out of that assembly. It is not a true assembly of Christ.

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church [ekklesia] daily such as should be saved.

Acts 2:47

The ekklesia is the people, the believers in the living God. Not some ecclesiastical institution run by some committee or some big wig pastor. It is the Lord’s business to add to His assembly of called out ones.

This concept is not New Testament only either. The ekklesia have been gathered from the time of Exodus from Egypt.

This is he, that was in the church [ekklesia] in the wilderness with the angel which spoke to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give to us:

Acts 7:38

The angel (meaning messenger) that spoke to Moses in mount Sinai was Jesus Christ. Jesus was gathering His ekklesia back then. This shows we are all part of the same assembly. There is only one, God’s holy nation.

5 You also, as lively [living] stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:5

The ekklesia is made of living stones, not brick and mortar, but the assembly of those who love and obey God and live according to His way.

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called [Greek: kaleo] you out [Greek: ek] of darkness into His marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

1 Peter 2:9-11
Out of darkness into His marvellous light

In the above passage there are the two Greek words (ek and kaleo) that make up the Greek word ekklesia, meaning the ‘called out ones’. They seek holiness and separation from the world. They will not join with the world, which means join with the vain pursuits of worldly things.

4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues.

Revelations 18:4

This verse is a direct reference to those in apostate churches, satanic worldly assemblies who do not follow God. Come out of the false churches who have introduced many pagan traditions into their doctrines. The Roman Catholic Church is the one of the most serious offenders, because the Vatican claims absolute leadership of Christianity in this world yet it is utterly corrupt in sin.

4 No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

2 Timothy 2:4

The members of the true ekklesia are soldiers who fight the good fight for God to save the lost from their ultimate fate if they do not repent and turn to God.

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

2 Timothy 2:19

God knows His children—they are His true Church—the true assembly of believers. This means the ekklesia is not a building or an organisation of men but an assembly of believers.

4 You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

James 4:4

Spiritually partaking of the worldly sins is seen by God as adultery because we are married to Christ. God calls friendship of the world hatred of God. That can occur when church pastors promote ungodly behaviours to their congregations, such as mask wearing, vaxxine taking and isolation from others who resist the diktats of government.

26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church [ekklesia], and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Acts 11:26

We can rewrite that clause in bold as ‘they gathered themselves with the called out assembly’. That sounds nothing like going down to the local church building. No, it costs something and the first century Christians knew what that meant.

28 Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, to feed the church [ekklesia, assembly] of God, which He has purchased with his own blood.

Acts 20:28

Members of the ekklesia are all saved believers. Just attending a building on Saturday or Sunday each week does not make you one of the ekklesia. You can join as a member of a local church but it does nothing to make you a living stone in God’s temple.

22 What? have you not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise you the church [ekklesia] of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

1 Corinthians 11:22

Clearly those who attend a building for the purpose of eating the wafer and drinking the wine are not members of the ekklesia. The true Church, the ekklesia, are one body who celebrate the sacrifice Christ made for us on the Cross in the communion as a memorial only and not as some pagan ritual. The bread and the wine are symbols that have no salvific properties. That alone is found in the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the Cross, for all who believe.

28 And God has set some in the church [ekklesia], first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:28

Here it is a reference to an assembly of called out believers, not a building or an organisation. The gifts of the spirit are given for the functioning of the ministries of the believers. Where the true Church is these gifts also will be present. The primary purpose of the gift of the Holy Spirit is to make us a witness to spread the good news message.

8 But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8

The true ekklesia is a witnessing assembly that preaches the gospel to the unsaved. They care less about themselves than others and are willing to ‘die daily’ (1 Corinthians 15:31) to themselves to get out the message to the lost. Are you one of the ekklesia?

  1. Dr. Hartnett,
This is good, solid, biblical teaching. Thank you., brother.

I take issue, however, with the unqualified label of church leadership encouragement of masks and vaccines during the Covid episode as “ungodly”. In hindsight, we see the nefarious evil of those behind the whole scheme. However, at the beginning of the plandemic, there were many who participated with a clean conscience, and felt that the responsible course of action was compliance. I did not, but many did, and now regret it.

The fact they were taken advantage of at the beginning does not make them “adulterers and adulteresses, friends of the world, and enemy of God”.

Let’s not add spiritual guilt to their personal regret, but rather have pity and render help both to the saints (who won’t be fooled again) and to the sick unsaved. What an opportunity to show the love of Jesus and to win souls!

    1. Steve, I take your point that there was a category of pastors who were too trusting of the evil governments, and have since realised that. However there are those who are unrepentant even now and they are adulterers with the world.
