As of October 8, 2024, Israel, with the US, has been waging a war against the Palestinian people of Gaza for one year. The pictures we see all over the internet, of the Gaza strip, is a territory reduced to total rubble. It has been estimated that 70% of all buildings are now unusable. More ordinance have been dropped on Gaza than was dropped on Nazi Germany during World War II.

The death toll in Gaza alone has been estimated at 41,000 directly killed by the Israeli armed occupation forces, and another 3 to 4 times that by indirect means. Of those 41,000 it is estimated by the Palestinian health authorities that 17,000 are children.

Only a week ago Israel began its invasion of the neighbouring country of Lebanon, with their stated goal to stop Hezbollah from firing missiles into northern Israel, so that the inhabitants of those northern Israeli towns can return there.

Israel has been waging war against its neighbours, including Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen (called the Axis of Resistance) for a long time now. Some have suggested that their ultimate goal is to establish Greater Israel, which means conquering a lot of those nations to include an area of control from the Nile river in the south to the Euphrates river in the north.

I was thinking about this and it occurred to me that what the state of Israel is doing is the fleshly equivalent to the biblical mandate to spread the gospel to the nations of the world.

Of course Israel of old failed to fulfil that mandate from Jehovah God. Their religion, Judaism, cannot conceive of the spiritual realm. So they only can interpret the scriptures in a fleshly, earthly way. But God has not been happy with their sin and He has warned them by the prophets of old.

I have found one such warning from the prophet Habakkuk is very appropriate to this current time. I quote the prophet below with my emphases in bold and my comments in square brackets.

8 Because you [Israel] have plundered many nations, all the rest of the people shall plunder you, because of the blood of men and the violence of the land, and the city, and all those dwelling in it.
9 Woe to him gaining evil gain for his house [Israel], to set his nest in the height, to be snatched from the palm of evil!
10 You have counseled shame for your house [Israel], to make an end of many peoples [genocide of Palestinians, Lebanese] , and are sinning in your soul.
11 For the stone shall cry out from the wall, and the beam shall answer it from the wood [the rubble of the bombed cities cries out].
12 Woe to him who builds a town with blood and establishes a city by iniquity! [Expanding their territories through war and bloodshed.]
13 Behold, is it not for Jehovah of Hosts that the people labor only for fire, and nations grow weary for emptiness? [Israel failed to spread the truth of God’s love.]
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover over the sea.

Habakkuk 2:8-14 KJ3

It is not by war that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the seas. No, the Lord told Israel that their bombing of their neighbours, the killing of the neighbouring inhabitants, to expand their borders to build new housing developments is sin. God condemns their actions.

Not only that, but because of Israel’s plundering of their neighbours lands, the people they plunder shall plunder them. This might be interpretated that Israel will eventually lose this war against these nations because this is not God’s plan.

Earthly war is not God’s way. He changes the hearts and minds of people who turn to Him. It is through the knowledge of the glory of the Lord God that the nations of the earth will be conquered for Him. This is the message from our God of love.

Israel’s god seems to be the god of war. He is not the Lord Jehovah the Creator. His message is to all peoples of all nations and it is not spread by violence and bloodshed. Nevertheless, in spite of Israel’s failure we have a promise from God.

14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover over the sea.

Habakkuk 2:14 KJ3

Obviously, it is self evident that water covers the sea 100%. The idiom means that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of God’s glory. I believe we are fast approaching that state now. Where on earth is there a place that has not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ? Nowhere!

  1. So if people came to your house and killed your family would you just turn your cheek. I think you would fight back and destroy the intruders so they do not do that again. I do not understand your preoccupation with Israel. Start harping on the Islamic fake faith. Are you scared? I dare you to write a commentary on how Islam is fake and violent and needs to be revealed as such. Come on john, do it.  And write several. Alfred Menendez  Yahoo Mail: Search, Organize, Conquer

    1. The Israeli state is not the same thing as Israel of biblical times. Christ dispersed the Jews in 70AD because of their rejection of Him as Messiah. Thus they lost all their land rights.

The current state is an impostor that colonised the Levant forcing out the native Palestinian people.

1948 State of Israel was NOT a Fulfillment of Prophecy – It was an Ethnic Cleansing Massacre (Nakba)

So with your first question, it is the Palestinians (whether they be Arab Jews, Arab Muslims or Arab Christians) who are the rightful home owners. The Arab Palestinians are those who are resisting the takeover of their homeland by the invading European Zionists who claim to be Jews.

And what makes you think I have not written about the deception in Islam? Here are a few examples.

  2. To have sincere questions regarding the ‘Modern State of Israel’ is NOT akin to endorsing Islam in any way WHATSOEVER! The modern state of Israel is NOT the equivalent of The Kingdom of Heaven or of God! Jesus was QUITE clear: Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Continuing, Pilate said; “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?” Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders.

But now my kingdom is from ANOTHER place.”(John 18:33-37) Prior to His execution, Jesus had declared in His parable of The Wicked Tenants of His Vineyard, that they would kill and throw out The Son in order that they would have His inheritance.  But, as the chief priests and elders of the people themselves so rightly judged, The Owner of The Vineyard would:  “Put those wretches to a miserable death and let out The Vineyard to other tenants who will give Him the fruits in their seasons”.  Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in The Scriptures: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone …  … therefore I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. And the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him”. (Matthew 21: 33-46)

The Modern State of Israel was founded with the backing of the Ashkenazi Jewish Rothschild family, the trillion-dollar banking family originally from Frankfurt that decided to create their own country. In 1917, the Rothschild’s used their money, power, and influence to strike a secret deal with the British government for the establishment of the modern state with the name Israel.

That this modern state uses the NAME ‘Israel’, DOESN’T make it Israel! Apostle and theologian Paul made no bones about who WAS Israel, writing:

‘So then, those who are OF faith are blessed along with Abraham … and

‘Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring (seed).

It does not say, “And to offsprings” (seeds – plural), referring to many, but REFERRING TO ONE, “And to your offspring” (seed – singular), who is CHRIST.’ (Galatians: 3:7,16)

It was also Rothschild influence and money that spawned the Schofield Bible with bible footnotes that popularized dispensationalism, first appearing in 1909 and revised by the author in 1917.

The propaganda AND misinformation in THIS so- called bible has influenced the thinking of Evangelical Christians ever since, and is responsible for the replacement of Christ with and by the modern state of Israel.

  3. Sir,

I agree with your first commentator’s perspective that self-defense is the motivation behind Israeli actions in this war, not territorial gain.

But it is your final statement I would suggest needs to be reconsidered:
“Where on earth is there a place that has not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ? Nowhere!” National borders are not synonymous with the Lord’s command to make disciples of “panta tan ethne” (every distinctive ethnic group, language, and people. Mt 28:19). For this reason, the remaining task is still great, and the worldwide church still needs to cross hundreds of cultural and linguistic borders for the gospel, “before the end will come” (Mt 24:14).
