The fifth Day of creation the unique origin of aquatic and aerial life on Earth. On this Day God created fish, cetaceans (whales), and marine reptiles like aquatic ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, and mosasaurs. He also created all birds and flying creatures, like the winged pterosaurs.
The big issue arising here is the presence of what we might call marine and flying reptiles. These are believed by unbiblical palaeontologists to have lived during the assumed Mesozoic Era and died out 65 million years ago. According to their worldview humans and plesiosaurs never lived together.
We are told that marine and flying reptiles should not be classed as dinosaurs, though they are often lumped together with the dinosaurs, literally the ‘terrible lizards’. The word ‘dinosaur’ is reserved for a cohort of land reptiles. The reality is that these classes are decided by fake evolutionary thinking and just ‘throwing darts at a board’.
Here I continue with a discussion on the physics of the days of creation. I look specifically at the events of Day 5 of the beginning of the universe. Please read The Physics of Creation | Day 1 to Day 4 before reading this post. (See links at the bottom of this post.)
I use a text-to-image AI image generator for some of my artwork. These AI tools rely in large databases of available images. They amalgamate images and form a new picture.
When I tried to get the AI software to generate an image with input text of birds and flying reptiles like pterosaurs, the top half of Fig. 1 above was the best it could do. The same is true for the bottom half of Fig. 1 where I used fish, whales and marine reptiles as my input text. You can see that the AI software had a hard time producing these in contemporary associations.
The relevant scriptures that apply to this Day are as follows.
20 And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarmers having a soul of life; and let the birds fly over the earth and the expanse of the heavens.
21 And God created the great sea monsters [Hebrew: תַּנִּין tannin], and all that moves, having a living body, which abounds the waters, according to its kind; and every bird [Hebrew: עוֹף `owph, that flies] with wing according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas; and let the birds multiply in the earth.
23 And it was evening, and it was morning, a fifth day.Genesis 1:20-23 KJ3
There are two groups of animals described in the above passage: marine and aerial. Both groups of animals swarm or move in flocks or schools. They all rely on a medium to move, that is they are immersed in the medium.
Marine creatures require the water as a medium. Some use gills (fish) to extract Oxygen from that water and others (cetaceans and reptiles) use lungs to breathe. All aerial creatures use lungs to breathe in air. Therefore we must conclude that the Creator prepared these environments with Oxygen dissolved in water and free Oxygen in the air. In both cases there is a logical causal connection to the Earth created of water on Day 1 and the atmosphere on Day 2.
Marine creatures require the reaction from the viscus fluid, water, to propel themselves through it. They use control planes, fins, and a tail as a rudder. The aerial creatures similarly employ wings and a tail to gain aerodynamic lift.
I have already dealt with the issue of the birds flying through the expanse, meaning simply the sky or the atmosphere. No one would suggest they fly through a solid glass dome or even through the vacuum of space.
This passage above on Day 5 has caused great trouble to many, because they are not prepared to take God at His word. They rely on so-called science to inform their worldview.
From verse 21 the Hebrew word עוֹף owph means ‘that flies’ and a bird as covered with feathers, or rather as covering with wings. Though it can mean a bird it also can mean a winged creature. The verse in the English translation of the Septuagint (LXXE) uses the phrase “every creature that flies with wings”.
Therefore why not flying reptiles like the winged pterosaurs, or pterodactyls? Oh that is because they died out 65 million years before man was supposed to have evolved. It is clearly a worldview issue, and which worldview you choose depends who you trust.
The Hebrew word תַּנִּין tannin and the plural tanninim occur 14 times, and in English versions of the Bible has been translated as dragon, sea-monster, (sea)serpent, whale, and even as jackal.
The word jackal appears to be spurious. The translators were hobbled by their worldview. Its meaning is a marine or land monster of some kind and many times translated as dragon especially in the KJV.
12 For God is my King of old, working salvation in the middle of the earth.
13 You did divide the sea by your strength: you brake the heads of the dragons in the waters.
14 You brake the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gave him to be meat [food] to the people inhabiting the wilderness.Psalms 74:12-14 AKJV
This is a reference to the flood and God supplying Noah’s family with food after the event. The Hebrew word tannin is translated dragon and is associated with leviathan [transliterated from Hebrew] a marine dinosaur of some type.
Therefore why not marine reptiles like aquatic ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, and mosasaurs? Oh because they died out 65 million years before man was supposed to have evolved. This is not a science issue but a worldview issue.
1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
Isaiah 27:1 AKJV
A serpent is a reptile and it seems leviathan was a serpent, even a dragon that lived in the sea. This animal could very well have been a plesiosaur or some other similar marine reptile.
The first plesiosaur fossils were found in England by Mary Anning, in the early 1800s, and were among the first fossil vertebrates to be scientifically described. They were found in water-born sediments, which is consistent with their demise in the global deluge, which produced rapid burial in enormous sedimentary layers. Fossilisation can only occur with rapid burial, not with death and slow rotting and decay.
As a believer in God’s words, what are you prepared to accept as true history? This is not a minor issue because these animals were created by God only 5 days from the beginning of the universe. They did not evolved over millions years from past ancestors who allegedly crawled out of the ocean as evolutionists claim.
We can conclude that the above passage describes on Day 5 God creating marine and flying reptiles on the same day as fish, whales and birds, only one day before He created humans and all land animals.
In the following I quote a section from New World Encyclopedia from under the subheading “Plesiosaurs and humans”.
The plesiosaur has a popular place in the human imagination. Plesiosaurs are featured in many children’s books, fiction (such as Jules Verne’s novel, Journey to the Center of the Earth), and films, sometimes serving as a symbol of a lost, child-like sense of wonder.
A so-called factual encyclopedia book trivialises the issue of dinosaurs, including plesiosaurs, and humans living at the same time. They make it sound like fairy tales. Whereas solid evidence of fresh dinosaur tissue has been found and bones that stink like rotting tissues.
One powerful line of evidence is red blood cells found in supposedly 65 million year old Tyrannosaurus-rex bones. In 1994, the discoverer, evolutionist, palaeontologist Mary Schweitzer, said:
It was exactly like looking at a slice of modern bone. But, of course, I couldn’t believe it. I said to the lab technician: ‘The bones, after all, are 65 million years old. How could blood cells survive that long?’
Later in 2005, Schweitzer discovered more samples, containing blood cells, hemoglobin, fragile proteins, and soft tissue such as flexible ligaments and blood vessels. And in 2012 even DNA was found. In regards to the images of fresh dinosaur flesh published 2005 in the leading journal Science the following comments are noteworthy.
Some tissue was still elastic. It beggars belief that elastic tissue like this could have lasted for 65 million years. A ‘fresh appearance’ which similarly makes it hard to believe in the ‘millions of years’. Regions of bone showing where the fibrous structure is still present, compared to most fossil bones which lack this structure. But these bones are claimed to be 65 million years old, yet they manage to retain this structure.
This is not science but a worldview issue.
Lake or sea monster sightings are occasionally explained as plesiosaurs. While the survival of a small, unrecorded breeding colony of plesiosaurs for the 65 million years since their apparent extinction is not seriously considered by scientists, the discovery of real and even more ancient living fossils such as the Coelacanth, and of previously unknown but enormous deep-sea animals such as the giant squid, have fueled imaginations.
The encyclopedia admits the Coelacanth is a problem. They call these finds living fossils because according the evolutionary story line the fish should have died out long ago.
This fishy story is that Coelacanths first appear in the fossil record in the Middle Devonian, about 410 million years ago. This fish tale is based on the fossil coelacanth jaw found in a stratum dated to 410 million years old near Buchan in Victoria, Australia. And you need to realise that the sedimentary strata are dated by the fossils they find in them but the fossils are dated by the strata they are found in. Totally circular reasoning!
Thus the whole fishy story changes when you admit the possibility that the the strata, the earth and the universe in no more than 10,000 years old and neo-Darwinian evolution story is a complete fraud.
The 1977 discovery of a carcass with flippers and what appeared to be a long neck and head, by the Japanese fishing trawler Zuiyo Maru, off New Zealand, created a plesiosaur craze in Japan. Members of a blue-ribbon panel of eminent marine scientists in Japan reviewed the discovery. Professor Yoshinori Imaizumi, of the Japanese National Science Museum, said, “It’s not a fish, whale, or any other mammal.” However, the general consensus amongst scientists today is that it was a decayed basking shark.
Biblical creationist also believe it was a basking shark carcass. But the reason the story caused such a furore is because of the worldview that dinosaurs, including the marine reptiles like plesiosaurs, died out 65 million years ago.
The Loch Ness Monster is reported to resemble a plesiosaur. Arguments against the plesiosaur theory include the fact that the lake is too cold for a cold-blooded animal to survive easily, that air-breathing animals like plesiosaurs would be easily spotted when they surface to breathe, that the lake is too small to support a breeding colony, and that the loch itself formed only 10,000 years ago during the last ice age. The famous “Surgeon’s Photo” of the Loch Ness Monster was explained in November 1993, when Christian Spurling confessed on his deathbed that he made it from a toy submarine and putty.
Again this is the same issue. Even if the famous photo was a fake, the reason for the furore is the worldview issue as above. But the 10,000 year argument does not hold water (pun intended). There are numerous reports of examples of dinosaurs or dragons including sea-dragons co-existing with humans up to recent times. Using examples such as the Zuiyo Maru decayed basking shark or the Loch Ness Monster is a strawman in light of the enormous number of counter-evolutionary-narrative examples. The discovery of red blood cells, DNA and soft dinosaur tissues or the discoveries of living fossils, the Coelacanth as one example, are without doubt and bring into question the entire edifice upon which the evolutionary hoax is built.
The Creator on Day 5 supernaturally created the first animal lifeforms swarming in the oceans and in the atmosphere. These were given prepared environments which included a food source. The oceans provided that source in that green aquatic grasses were created on Day 3 and were powered by sunlight, from Day 4, to produce plant sugars via photosynthesis.
At the end of His Day 5 creation process God said that “it was good”. We must conclude that there was no death of sentient breathing beings (Hebrew: nephesh chaya), that is, “all that moves, having a living body” (KJ3), or “every living creature that moves” (AKJV). Death did not occur until the Curse, which occurred not so long after the end of creation week.
