You may have heard the phrase, “in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes” or variants of that. It is a well-known adage commonly attributed to American statesman Benjamin Franklin. He wrote this sentiment in a letter to French scientist Jean-Baptiste Le Roy on November 13, 1789, stating, “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes”. Others before him made similar statements.
In most Western countries, and certainly in Australia, we are taxed when we earn money, taxed when we spend it, even though tax was already paid on it, and capital-gain taxed when our assets increase in nominal dollar value due to the inflation tax created by the government with its loose monetary and fiscal policies. Now recent deliberations by the Australian government about how to expand their tax theft from the people included the notion of a death tax. That is to tax your estate after you have died. You can’t escape the taxes, which we must pay else we may find ourselves in forced confinement courtesy of the state where our freedom is taxed.
But what is the big deal about death? Methuselah lived 969 years according to the genealogical account in Genesis chapter 5. He is often called the “oldest man who ever lived”.
Methuselah lived in the preflood world before the great deluge in Noah’s time around 3154 ± 191 BC (according to my calculation). This date is consistent with the record in the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Old Testament dated from about 200 BC).
But something happened at the time of the great deluge that changed the conditions in the world and some fundamental biological characteristics in humans (and all living things) so that their lifetimes rapidly decreased. In fact after the flood lifespans exponentially decreased. See the figure below.
The rapid decrease of ages happened with all humans though the plot above only shows the biblical patriarchs’ ages from the Bible because that is the only information we have available. See also Physics of the Curse (Premium subscription required).
Average human lifespan nowadays is around 85 years assuming no major illnesses or accidents that cut that short. But some people live into their nineties and the oldest person recorded in the modern era lived until nearly 120.

A 2021 study on aging attempted to quantify the current limits of human lifespan. The research revealed a biological ceiling for human lifespan, suggesting that even with optimal health, humans cannot live beyond 150 years due to declining “physiological resilience”.
Though the research doesn’t state it this way, it appears that “physiological resilience” or the ability to bounce back, that you once had in your younger years, could be directly attributed to decay as a result of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. We could call it intrinsic decay which is not reversable.
The groundbreaking study examined aging through two very different parameters: blood cell counts and daily step activity. I can easily see where these two factors would be markers for physiological decay. The authors defined it in terms of resilience, the recovery from a major negative health event, and they found it stepped down as a person aged. Thus the main factor limiting our lifespan is a loss of the ability to bounce back after a setback, this is the so-called “physiological resilience”.
In the study published in Nature Communications, this decline is enough to limit our lives to 120 to 150 years at the most. And even without major health issues, like cancer, your body will eventually run out of energy to help recover from even minor challenges.
A review of the 2021 research was published in Popular Mechanics, September 7, 2025 under the title “Humans Could Live to Be 150, Science Says, But that’s absolutely the limit“.
… the researchers were able to find the point at which the body would ultimately disintegrate as a result of the loss of resiliency. Every year, for example, think of the risk of cancer as a kind of coin toss with a certain likelihood of happening. The longer you live, the more coin flips you must take. The point at which you take that last coin flip, they say, is somewhere between 120 and 150 years—a value that likely puts a hard limit on human life.
“We conclude that the criticality resulting in the end of life is an intrinsic biological property of an organism that is independent of stress factors and signifies a fundamental or absolute limit of human lifespan,” the authors note in the paper. (my emphases added)
I have read that the evil globalist elites, the powerful mega-rich oligarchs, want to defeat death, or even live to 150 years. But they will never be able to escape judgment. Perhaps they know this and want to escape being called before the Lord at the great white throne judgment (Revelation 20:11-15).
So they look for every means possible to live beyond normal lifespans. That might include organ transplants, and blood transfusions from young people. But more insidious is the idea that they harvest stem cells from the unborn or newly born babies in some barbaric blood rituals to Satan.
Connected to this is adrenochrome, a powerful drug extracted from very young children who have been captured, imprisoned, terrified and tortured. Listen to Jim Caviezel the actor who played Jesus in Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ”. Jim describes what the satanic elites are attempting to do to preserve their own lives beyond the natural lifespan with the drug adrenochrome.
This is in stark contrast to the fact that Jesus, on the cross, paid for, made atonement for our sins so that we might inherit eternal life. That is, the names of all those who put their trust in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, are written in the book of life. They possess immortality beyond death.
The rest of the dead, those who rejected Jesus Christ, are judged according to what they had done. They are doomed to hellfire and damnation in the lake of fire.
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

As much as these evil mega-rich elites would like to defeat death completely they never will. Their use of adrenochrome and embryonic stem cells is their vain attempt to reverse aging. Some even have their heads frozen in liquid nitrogen after they have died, to await a time when they could be resurrected. What a hollow imitation of the true resurrection given to believers by the Creator.

It counts what you do with your life in this world.
Death is unavoidable. Taxes may also be unavoidable but it seems that 150 years is an absolute fundamental limit to human lifespan in this world. And death is absolutely certain.
Out of this world there are no taxes but eternal life for those who put their trust in Jesus Christ. For those who reject Jesus Christ in this world it is fiery judgment in the next.
