US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee demands that Christians should understand they have a moral debt owed to the Jewish people. He insists that no one can truly be a Christian without recognizing that the entire faith is built on the foundation of Judaism. Huckabee says he can’t understand why so many Christians choose not to support Israel.

Judaism is a false religion that was not written down until somewhere between 200 AD and 400 AD, well after the establishment of the canon of the New Testament scriptures, and well after the gospel of Jesus Christ had spread through the known world.

The book “Judaism’s Strange Gods” by Michael A. Hoffman II argues that Judaism is not even based on the Old Testament but on the Babylonian Talmud. The author attempts to differentiate between the Jewish people and the practices of Judaism, arguing that Judaism represents the institutionalized nullification of Biblical law and doctrine.

Hoffman documents his provocative thesis that Judaism is not the religion of the Old Testament, but the newly formalized belief system of the Pharisees, which arose in Babylon with the commitment of the formally oral traditions of the elders to writing, in the wake of the crucifixion of Israel’s Messiah and the destruction of the Temple. Read Judaism is False Religion.

Those are the same oral traditions that Jesus railed against when rebuking the Pharisees, from which the modern day Rabbis have developed.

Jesus said the exact opposite to what Huckabee has said. Christ spoke of the Pharisees and their oral tradition [Babylonian Talmud] at that time, saying:

13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things do you.

Mark 7:13 AKJV

The Apostle Paul was an ardent advocate for Judaism before his conversion to Christ. But Jesus appeared to him and by revelation changed his heart.

11 But I certify you, brothers, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. 13 For you have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion [Judaism], how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: 14 And profited in the Jews’ religion [Judaism] above many my equals in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers [Talmud]. 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Galatians 1:11-16 AKJV

What more evidence do you need. The Apostle testified that the gospel of Jesus Christ — salvation by grace through faith and not by works of any religion — did not come from man. It did not come from any Jewish religion — called Judaism today — but was revealed to Paul directly from Jesus Christ.

In the above passage where you see “Jews’ religion” substitute “Judaism”. And by “the traditions of my fathers” he means the oral traditions from past dead rabbis which were eventually written down in a collection of books called the Talmud. The tradition effectively made God’s commandment of no effect.

Thus have you made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

Matthew 15:6b AKJV

Jesus emphasized that such actions were not isolated but part of a broader pattern where Jewish law (halakha) contradicted or overrode divine law.

Paul was saved when Christ called him by His grace. He said so. Jewish law or the tradition of Jewish people had nothing to do with it.

Judaism is a religion of works, law keeping and following halakha (with many contradictory opinions of the rabbis). In the Jewish diaspora, halakha was used by many Jewish communities as an enforceable avenue of law — both civil and religious, since no differentiation of them exists in classical Judaism.

Christ’s religion is the exact opposite. You cannot be redeemed by works of the law but by the salvation Christ paid for by His death on the cross.

4 … you also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that you should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit to God.

Romans 7:4 AKJV

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23 AKJV

US Ambassador Huckabee is an evangelical Christian Zionist and a Judaizer. He is completely wrong when he insisted that no one can truly be a Christian without recognizing that the entire faith is built on the foundation of Judaism. NO… it isn’t! To say so, is spouting Satanic doctrine that works can save you, that law keeping can save you. That is the doctrine of the Pharisees who Jesus said were of their father the devil.

44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stayed not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

John 8:44 AKJV

Huckabee is speaking Satanic lies. There is no truth in him. This is not his first lie either. Previously he said that Jews are God’s chosen people and they are the foundation of all morality. Read Biblical Morality Comes from Jesus Christ

Only through Jesus Christ, and Him alone can you find salvation through His precious blood shed on the cross.

18 knowing that not with corruptible things, silver or gold, were you redeemed from your worthless way of life handed down from your fathers [i.e. Jews’ religion and Talmudic law] 19 but with precious blood of Christ,

1 Peter 1:18-19a KJ3

  1. John,

When Huckabee cites “Judaism”, you know as well as I do that he is not saying the Gospel is based on the legalistic rites, praxis, and beliefs employed by Jews of any particular age. Worldwide Jewry is all over the theological map, and always has been, even in Christ’s day (Pharasee, Sadducee, Zealots, Essenes, ad infinitum).

Rather, when Mike Huckabee refers to “Judaism” he unquestionably refers not to a particular sect of the Jews, but to our being rooted in the Jewish Bible–Old and New Testaments, to Jewish biblical history, to a biblical Jewish worldview, and to a Jewish Saviour of the world. Huckabee does not say you need to believe that God still has particular unfinished business with the Jews (ie. to be a Zionist) in order to be saved. (I know he fellowships with and loves Covenant theologians, Amillennialists, classic Reformed paedobaptists, and “all who earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”)

Rather, Huckabee, and indeed the overwhelming majority of all Dispensationalist and Covenant theologians, contend that to try and remove the Jewish roots from the Gospel is to commit a very grave error.

    1. Steve,
Very clearly he said one “cannot be truly a Christian without recognizing that the entire faith is built on the foundation of Judaism”. QED. Case closed.
