So many times — I can’t count them all — I have been told by various people that the Apollo Moon landings in 1969-72 were faked. All of the Apollo missions were fraudulent and that no humans ever left low Earth orbit.
As conspiracy theories go, the idea was that video or film of the Apollo Moon landing was faked, with even supposed the assistance of Stanley Kubrick, is probably the most outlandish claim in all scientific endeavours. Movie makert Stanley Kubrick worked with science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke to produce the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey. That film was a fiction, so why not the 1969 Moon landing?
Then there was this fictional film Capricorn One about going to Mars, released in 1978, which was 9 years after Armstrong and Aldrin first walked on the Moon. Somehow that movie is claimed as evidence for a fake Moon landing.

There are many on the internet, YouTube etc, who claim that the Moon landing was faked. The short film shown below is also claimed as evidence. From the footage we can see it definitely was filmed on a stage but it was never intended to be covert, but rather a spoof on the Moon landing.
This is a spoof video made in 2002. The big watermark “moontruth.com” on the video is a big hint, and go to the website from which anyone can see that the creators did fake it but just for fun.

At 4:17 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, on July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong was seen on television by millions of people around the world apparently walking on the surface of the moon, and making one giant leap into the pages of history. BUT DID HE? Conspiracy theories abound on the Internet.
The piece of footage you just saw answers the question – but raises a lot of others. We don’t know the answers to all these questions – but here is what we do know:
1) Is it real?
Yes. This footage was clearly shot in a studio, and is clearly meant to represent the Apollo 11 moon landing. The attention to detail is staggering. The intention is clearly to fool viewers into believing that it is genuine.2) Is it conclusive?
No. There is no proof that because this was shot in a studio, the moon landing was necessarily faked. But we do know that the original non-digital footage was destroyed and that certain (dangerous) people are very angry that this clip has leaked.3) How did we get it?
We did not get it directly from a NASA source. Our source is well placed to vouch for the authenticity of the footage and had links with the makers of 2 recent documentaries, one for the BBC and one for CNN about the moonlanding conspiracies. We cannot possibly reveal his identity, and probably never will be able to. His position is more dangerous than you might imagine.4) Why haven’t I seen it before?
The footage has been buried for over 30 years. All the original stock, except this cut, was destroyed. We have had it for over 2 years and in that time have (anonymously) approached almost every large TV network owner to sell the rights. Without exception they were interested and offered to buy it. At one point they were also. Then, also without exception they changed their minds and started to try to find out who we were. At that point we stopped dealing with them. It was scary as hell.5) How, when and where was it made?
It was made in 1965, judging by the camera it was shot on – an Ikegami Tube Camera. We have evidence that the footage was shot outside the US – possibly in Europe, by a foreign crew.6) Who is inside the suit?
Not one of the original astronauts. In fact, they are totally unaware that this footage was ever shot. The guy in the suit is an actor called Symond Lewis.7) Why is it on the Internet and not on TV?

They have refused to comment. But we have recently heard that they are stepping up efforts on a huge PR campaign to convince us all that the Apollo moon landings all took place.
Make of it as you will. They then state that all those comments are BS. More making fun of the conspiracy theorists, I suppose.

Also in 1968 I attended the Sydney University International School of Science as a 16-year-old student from Western Australia. The reason I tell you this is because that was the same year as the Apollo 8 mission with 3 astronauts who for the first time orbited the Moon. That event occurred on Christmas Eve December 24, 1968.
In 1968 several of the Apollo astronauts attended the Science School and gave lectures on the entire Apollo Moon shot program. This was before the actual Moon landing in July 1969.
It seems very fitting to recount that Apollo 8 mission since we are now approaching Christmas 57 years later. Popular Science, published December 2024, a good account of that mission: On Christmas Eve 1968, millions watched the Apollo 8 astronauts broadcast from space.
Apollo 8 astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders were orbiting the moon, broadcasting live to roughly a quarter of the world’s population.
Firlan, a video editor and lifelong space enthusiast …, tells Popular Science. “It was amazing to us that humans were orbiting the moon. The live TV transmission, though very low-definition by today’s standards, was fascinating, mesmerizing, and beautiful. Nobody in the house talked at all during the whole transmission.”
Each of the three astronauts shared the reading of a passage from the book of Genesis in the Bible. What was their message? They read the first 10 verses of Genesis 1. They used the King James Bible. Below I use a modern version of the King James (AKJV). The message is the same.
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 And God said, Let there be a firmament [expanse] in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

How significant is that? The astronauts were religious. The Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin apparently waited five and a half hours before they first left the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) after landing on the Moon. Aldrin is a Presbyterian and took holy communion before leaving the LEM. His prayer is what caused a stir as he was broadcast live at that time.
The live Apollo 8 broadcast of the text of Genesis about God creating the Earth, and not an origin via a big bang, was also controversial. I don’t think NASA would have authorised that. But it reflects the biblical beliefs of the time in the USA. Many, including scientists and engineers, were Young-Earth Creationists in the 1960’s.
Ok, so if these astronauts were really in a studio on Earth broadcasting a faked video and audio message to the whole world, how could they have kept a lid on it for all this time? There were some 400,000 staff involved in the Apollo program, and no one blew the whistle?
This successful mission ultimately paved the way for Apollo 11, where Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the moon. The lunar landing was watched by an estimated 650 million people on television, but that awestruck communal viewing owed a bit of gratitude to Apollo 8’s Christmas Eve message.
“The fact that it was on Christmas Eve added to the wonder of the event,” says Firlan. “It’s one of those memories that has stuck with me all these years.”
Me too! I stayed home from school that day and watched the event broadcast live on TV. It certainly did impress me to go on into university physics research.
In July 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin completed humanity’s first landing on the Moon. Armstrong stated from the Moon:
“Houston, Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed.”
And when he set foot on the surface, he misquoted the preplanned statement.
“That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.”
However the success of the Moon landings may also have brought with it a warning for current day godless America.
4 Though you exalt yourself as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, there will I bring you down, said the LORD.
Obadiah 1:4 AKJV
The Apollo 11 Lunar module (LEM) was named the Eagle. It is imagined as making its nest on the Moon, among the stars.
This prophecy from Obadiah is a powerful declaration of divine judgment against pride, using hyperbolic imagery to emphasize that no matter how high some may rise—whether physically, spiritually, or politically—God has the power to bring them down.
The phrase “nest among the stars” symbolizes an unreachable height, suggesting that even the most fortified or exalted position cannot offer security from divine retribution. The prophecy serves as a warning to those who boast in their strength or position, affirming that God’s sovereignty extends over all creation.
The problem with all these Moon landing hoax stories is that it was a past event. Historical science is weak and depends on circumstantial evidence. Only an eye witness account could break that conundrum. The astronauts were eye witnesses to the events, and I have never heard one of them denying the Moon landings. And I have watched videos in which some have claimed they did but I could not find any such evidence.
The Apollo 11 Moon landing was less than 60 years ago and it is fiercely disputed by some. Well, what about the divine ex nihilo creation of the universe less than 8,000 years ago? That is disputed in the same way, even by those who claim to believe in God and the Bible. They claim God used the big bang to “create” the universe. But that is a complete fabrication.
Genesis chapter 1 was written as an historical narrative. And the eye-witness accounts recorded there are the best historical evidence we have. God Himself was the eye-witness and He has preserved His written word. Therefore we can trust its veracity. Everything I read and learn tells me that the history in the Genesis account, as read by the Apollo 8 astronauts, is correct.
