Before the global flood the patriarchs lived to ages between 910 and 970 years, but after the flood their lifespans exponentially decreased to about 70 years. In a big picture PowerPoint presentation I explore potential causes and in particular link it to rapid Earth changes causing instability in the Earth’s magnetic field. Pre-Flood Earth’s moderate static magnetic field may have had a significant positive effect of lifespans.
In this video presentation I explore some contributing factors:
- Biological decay, genetic entropy (genomic information loss per generation), physiological resilience
- Changes in Earth’s magnetic field (polarization, energy, stability)
- Oxidative stress or other factors in changing Earth environment (magnetic fields, cosmic rays, climate (temperature), geographic stability)
- Withdrawal of the sustaining power of the Creator

Concluding Remarks
- Very long lifespans was a feature of the created world but since those times of the pre-Flood patriarchs the underlying physical properties (incl. physiological resilience) for such long ages have been eviscerated.
- Running out of energy and loss of physiological resilience effects of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics decreased lifespans.
- Arrow of Time is defined by 2nd Law; entropy always increases.
- There is no going back to the pre-Flood state.
- Only with the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and His renovation of the human body can long lifespans – eternal lifespans – be achieved.
