Soon after the beginning of creation, Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden in Eden, by eating the fruit of the tree that God had commanded them not to eat of. And no, it was not an apple. (The Apple Corporation got that one wrong.)

As a consequence God, cursed the ground, such that it no longer was easy to grow food. From that time onward it became a struggle against the elements. God withdrew some of His sustaining power over creation and as a result there arose pests and disease, including cancers. Also toxic plants and poisonous animals developed that could injure or kill humans.

17 And to Adam [God] said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it: cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return to the ground; for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and to dust shall you return.

Most significantly, from that moment on, death would be the end result for the living. That is what the phrase ‘to dust shall you return’ means. Adam was created from the dust or earth and on dying that is where he and all the living will return to.

In Genesis 2:17 God tells Adam, in relation to eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, ‘for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die (AKJV)’. And we know from other texts that Adam physically died about 930 years later. So how did Adam die at the moment he ate from the tree?

The phrase “you shall surely die” can be literally translated from the Hebrew biblical text as “dying you shall die.” In the Hebrew phrase we find the imperfect form of the Hebrew verb (you shall die) with the infinitive absolute form of the same verb (dying). This presence of the infinitive absolute intensifies the meaning of the imperfect verb (hence the usual translation of “you shall surely die”).

Death was not a natural part of life before this, but now Adam’s offspring needed to be aware of these dangers from the natural world as well as from the humans who allowed sin to reign in the hearts. Death and violence became the norm. That eventually led to the global flood in Noah’s time, but that is a discussion for another post.

Here I want to focus on one aspect of the Curse that has resulted and that is disease, especially the big C — Cancer.

Several years ago I attended a skin clinic for a routine checkup and to my surprise the doctor found I had several skin cancers. I had one melanoma and one basal cell carcinoma (BCC), both of which were cut out. The BCC was on my heel and required a skin graft which kept me off my feet for a month and gave me a lot of pain and anxiety. I also had squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) burnt off with liquid nitrogen.

Since those days I have had more BCCs and SCCs. Recently I again detected some BCCs on my foot and my wife also was diagnosed with a BCC.

However, because I had learnt about this milkweed plant to treat any pre-cancerous cells like solar/actinic keratosis (very successfully too) I also tried the white milkweed sap on BCCs and SCCs. I treated them early and usually within 7 – 10 days they were healed.

I have also found that virgin coconut oil over time works well against solar keratosis. You cover your skin with it and over time it brings up red spots of the keratosis cells and eventually they fade as you keep applying it day after day. That can take quite some time. But Milkweed sap works on them much faster and often only requires a single application.

Milkweed is also known as petty spurge or cancer weed or radium weed. Its scientific name is Euphorbia peplus. It is easily found. It grows everywhere during the cooler months.

The milkweed referred to in this article is euphorbia peplus, which Wikipedia also refers to as milkweed. E. peplus is also known as petty spurge, radium weed and cancer weed. It is native to most of Europe, northern Africa and western Asia. It is now found in most countries in temperate and sub-tropical regions including in Australia, New Zealand and North America, where it is regarded as an invasive noxious weed. Milkweed typically grows in cultivated arable land, gardens, and other disturbed land.

E. peplus is an annual plant with a height of 5-30 cm (2-12″). It has smooth hairless stems with a pink/red/purple tinge. The 1-3 cm long leaves are oval shaped, and it has green flowers.

Milkweed as a remedy / treatment

The plant’s sap is toxic, especially to rapidly-replicating human tissue. The sap has long been used as a traditional remedy for skin lesions including cancer, skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, intraepidermal carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, and keratosis (especially actinic keratosis). It is also used for warts, corns, sunspots and other skin blemishes.

Pharmaceutical companies have identified and synthesised some of the active ingredients in milkweed. Their milkweed look-alike is called ingenol mebutate. Studies testing the effectiveness of ingenol mebutate for the treatment of actinic keratosis are promising (1, 2). However, I would strongly prefer to use genuine milkweed as the traditional, natural remedy for keratosis and skin cancers. The real herb is free if you grow it in your garden, and pharmaceutical drugs always come with additional side-effects.

You can buy Euphorbia peplus cream online, on Amazon, or on Ebay, as a treatment to skin disease. People also are selling the plant and the seeds on ebay. You would need to look for a local seller in your country, but you can find it growing in cool damp environments because it is a weed.

Here is my main point in this!

God cursed the ground and it brought forth weeds and a lot of trouble for farmers. But in those weeds God also provided the cure for some of the diseases that came as a result of the Curse.

I am not offering medical advice here and you should always consult your doctor. My experience is that some of the skin doctors know about this plant as the active ingredient, ingenol mebutate, is used in a pharmaceutical drug called Picato but many doctors don’t know.

I personally think it wonderful that the Creator has provided a herb that may be the cure for the skin cancers that arise due to too much sun exposure, which is also part of the Curse. That leads into the topic of skin pigmentation from melanin as a prevention of sunburn and hence skin cancer.

In the post-flood world humans migrated everywhere and took with them only a portion of the original created genetic information in their small population groups, that is, information that coded for different skin tones from melanin.

All the genetic information was held in the original interbreeding pre-flood population but if you separate off a smaller group by chance some of that information may not be in the subgroup.

If the subgroup arrived in a low latitude, the region between 30° and 0° north or south of the equator, the tropics, and they could not produce the darker skin tones then they were less protected from the sun. The reverse would be true for the higher latitudes where sunlight is much lower intensity. Darker skin tones would be a disadvantage as those people would not get enough vitamin D. The result is those who are best adapted survive in those locations. Traditional Australian Aboriginals are very dark and well protected from the intense sunshine.

In the past 150 years many Europeans came to Australia from higher latitudes hence had with white skin tones (low melanin pigmentation). Therefore many non-Aboriginal Australians today cannot tolerate the intense sunshine in the summer period. This presents a sun damage problem and potential skin cancer risk.

However I would add that the toxic pharmaceutical chemicals they call sunblock may be far worse for causing skin cancer. The skin cancer rates have risen in this country, and not decreased, contrary to what you’d expect with all the education to cover up and use sunblock creams, if the creams were effective.

It is a cream that works against solar keratosis and from our experience against non-melanoma skin cancer also.
