Understanding Jesus | The Fulfillment of All God’s Promises and All Old Testament Prophecies

The modern Evangelical Church Industrial Complex has replaced worship of our King Jesus the Christ/Messiah with worship of the current political state and Jewish population of Israel. That started with the exclusive Brethren and its Irish cult leader John Nelson Darby around 1821. It was promoted and proselytised to the evangelical church through the Notes written in the Scofield Study Bible published early 1900s. But it was never church doctrine in the 1,800 years before that. The Old Testament has always been about Jesus Christ and only about Him.

The future is also entirely about the kingdom of God built by Jesus Christ and not some restoration of ancient Jerusalem with a Zionist kingdom on Earth centred on earthly Jerusalem, which is what JN Darby taught.

All the OT prophecies and teachings have always pointed exclusively to Jesus as the coming Messiah. Read The Biblical Worldview is Entirely and Only Founded on Jesus Christ!

You logically deduced that Jesus is not a Christian because Christians follow the Messiah, and Jesus IS the Messiah. This is SOLID logic. Good job. 👍

The problem, this SAME logic applies to Jesus being a Jew. The Old Testament faith, given by God, to Israel, through Moses, has “an object of faith” (IE, that which is trusted and worshipped). NEWSFLASH: That’s JESUS.

On their walk to Emmaus, Jesus filled in the disciples in on how He was the whole religion of the Old Testament, and it says, “…beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:25-27).

What does Jesus mean, that it was all about Him?

The Passover Lamb? That’s explicitly about Jesus, the offering of our atonement (1 Corinthians 5:7, Exodus 12:3-13, John 1:29).

The Festival of Tabernacles? That’s about Jesus, who would come and tabernacle among men in his flesh (John 1:14, John 7:2, 37-39).

Manna from Heaven? That’s Jesus, the true bread that came down from Heaven (John 6:31-35, 48-51).

The Feast of Unleavened Bread? That’s Jesus’ body, given for many (1 Corinthians 5:8, Luke 22:19).

The cup of wine? That’s Jesus’ blood, poured out for the forgiveness of sins (Luke 22:20, Matthew 26:27-28).

The Feast of Firstfruits? That’s Jesus, raised on the third day as the first of those who will rise (1 Corinthians 15:20-23).

The Day of Atonement? That’s Jesus, who entered the true Holy of Holies with his own blood, once for all (Hebrews 9:11-12, 24-26).

The Feast of Weeks? That’s the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost, the true giving of the law written on hearts instead of stone (Acts 2:1-4, Jeremiah 31:33).

The Feast of Trumpets? That’s the last trumpet, the resurrection of the dead at Christ’s coming (1 Corinthians 15:52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16).

Joseph, betrayed by his brothers and exalted to save the very people who sold him? That’s Jesus, betrayed and exalted to save those who rejected him (Genesis 37:28, 45:4-7, Acts 2:36).

Noah’s ark, saving a remnant through the flood waters? That’s baptism, saving us through Christ’s resurrection (Genesis 7:23, 1 Peter 3:20-21).

The Sabbath rest? That’s the eternal rest that remains for the people of God in Christ (Hebrews 4:9-10).

The Levitical high priest entering to make intercession? That’s Jesus, our great high priest who ever lives to intercede (Hebrews 4:14-16, 7:25).

The Temple itself? That’s Jesus’ own body, destroyed and raised in three days (John 2:19-21).

Get the point? So if Jesus isn’t a Christian because – by your OWN logic – He’s the Messiah, apply the math to Judaism (the real kind, not the fake, Rabbinic, modern kind that is a post-temple, anti-Jesus nonsense religion), then by that SAME standard, He’s not a Jew, except ethnically.

Because Jesus does not HAVE a religion. Jesus IS the religion. It’s ALL about Him. For Jesus, “Jewish” is but a mere ethnicity, like calling St. Patrick Irish. Religiously, He’s the God that Moses and David and Elijah worshipped.

Crazy thing is, when God destroyed the Temple in 70AD because Christ decreed its annihilation, that destroyed the capacity of the Old Testament religion to be observed. Remember all those rites and rituals I mentioned ^^ Most require a Temple. God saw to it that the old faith could no longer be observed.

Jews should’ve gotten the point. That’s over. A New Covenant is here. A much better one. But sadly, the rabbis took about six centuries and just crafted a crappy counterfeit religion without the Temple, invented a bunch of new knock-off rituals that barely resemble the ones God gave Moses.

THAT Temu-Judaism isn’t the real thing. Jesus had nothing to do with that “Judaism,” and in fact, said their synagogues worship Satan, and that their father was the devil, because they “exchanged the Law of God for the commandments of men.” Then they made up a whole new faith.

Jesus was never that kind of “Jew”

JD Hall expressed that perfectly. I could not have said it better.

20 For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him [we utter] Amen, to the glory of God by us.

2 Corinthians 1:20 AKJV [my insertion from ESV]

Jesus Christ is the Messiah and He alone fulfilled all the promises of God and He alone fulfilled all the prophecies in the Old Testament. There are no others who fulfil any of the OT prophecies because the oracles of God given through the OT prophets were always foreshadowing the arrival of God’s Son who, through His sacrifice on the cross, would satisfy the Father’s wrath and save a remnant from death.

The true Jews are those circumcised of the heart and not of the flesh (Deuteronomy 10:16; 30:6, Jeremiah 4:4). That is orthodox (small o) Christian doctrine found in the Old Testament and explained and expanded upon in the New Testament. It emphasizes that true spiritual devotion and righteousness comes from an inward transformation by the Holy Spirit rather than adherence to external physical rituals, including cutting of the flesh, or the literal “letter of the law.”

28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Jesus epitomised this teaching and taught it. He was never a Talmudic Jew of the flesh. He is only ethnically Jewish of the lineage of King David. However spiritually He is “all, and in all”. In Christ, we

10 … have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Colossians 3:10-11 AKJV

“Christ is all, and in all” primarily teaches that in the new creation, all earthly and spiritual distinctions (such as Jew or Greek, slave or free) are superseded by the singular importance of Christ. Jesus is the quintessence of all good things, serving as the complete source of righteousness, sanctification, and spiritual fullness for believers. There is no other and no other way to righteousness with God.
