My current art display in the Armadale Society of Artists shop in Armadale Shopping Centre

Recently I have been very busy painting a whole bunch of new paintings, mostly in oils, to prepare for a new 2-month period in the shop of the art society of which I am a member. In addition I have been doubly busy to prepare for the upcoming Armadale Hills Art Trail, November 6th to 15th, 2026.

I am part of the Armadale Society of Artists’ Collective (though my name is not yet included online due to me joining late). That is where a group of 7 artist display our art and attend most days painting (like we would in our own studios) so we can meet the public who come by as part of the art trail of open studios around the hills area.

If you live in Perth Western Australia come along one day and see my work and that of the other 6 artists in the collective. We can be found between 10 am and 4 pm at The Arena Arthouse, 4 Townley Street, Armadale, WA.

Though I am very electric in the topics of what I paint, in the last few years I have developed into painting according to a particular theme. Some years ago my theme was Australiana type pictures with kangaroos and Australian scenes. I have repeated that one a few times. But then one year I did many mushroom paintings. Another theme was boab trees, which are only found in South Africa and the north of Western Australia. Then last year I did many butterflies. Now I have gone into space, painting galaxies, planets etc.

A decided influence in some of these is Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. In fact I painted my own version of “Starry Night”. I added a small telescope and my own artistic licence.

As you may know, I was a Research Professor of Physics at two Australian Universities and I published over 200 scientific papers, both in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters as well as in conference papers. A significant portion of those were on cosmology and astrophysics. I mention this because I have had a fascination with the cosmos since I was a young child and I suppose this is reflected in the current theme in my recent paintings.
