Hungary experienced the worst hyperinflation in history in 1945–1946, with prices doubling every 15 hours and monthly inflation peaking at 41.9 quadrillion percent.

Zimbabwe faced extreme inflation in 2007–2008, where prices doubled daily and the monthly rate reached 79.6 billion percent in November 2008.

Yugoslavia underwent severe hyperinflation during two distinct periods: first in September–December 1989, and again from April 1992 to January 1994, where prices doubled every 1.4 days.

Germany (Weimar Republic) suffered hyperinflation from 1922 to 1923, peaking in October 1923 with a monthly rate of 29,500 percent.

Greece experienced hyperinflation during World War II, peaking in October 1944 with a monthly rate of 13,800 percent.

Venezuela entered hyperinflation in 2013, with rates exceeding 1,000,000 percent by 2018 and remaining a significant case as of 2026.

Brazil endured hyperinflation from 1985 to 1994, while China faced severe inflation during the Chinese Civil War from 1948 to 1949.

Israel suffered hyperinflation during the mid-1980s, peaking in November 1984 when the annual inflation rate reached 486.2%.

Iran’s economy is currently in a state of severe hyperinflation, with point-to-point inflation rates reaching 87.9% in July 2026 and annual inflation around 66%, marking the highest levels since World War II.

The crisis escalated rapidly due to a combination of long-standing structural issues, international sanctions, and the U.S.-led naval blockade of Iranian ports in April 2026, which crippled oil exports and import capabilities.

The following list of hyperinflation by country was published by Lukas Ekwueme @ekwufinance wrote on X.com

On October 18 he wrote:

The US will inflate its debt away.

Since 1800, 51 out of 52 countries with gross government debt above 130% of GDP have defaulted, either through some form of default or inflation.

The only exception is today’s Japan… and they’re in the midst of inflating their debt away.

Today, US debt-to-GDP stands at 121% and will reach the 130% threshold in no time.

And no, having the world’s reserve currency won’t save the US… It didn’t save the UK either.

Just as the UK inflated its debt away after WWI and WWII, the US will follow suit.

We don’t own enough gold and hard assets for when that happens.

The whole world is now under the same conditions that led to hyperinflation in the economies of many of the countries listed above.

War — Boom — Bust!

The Bust there is the result of the Boom going into hyperdrive, deflating the currencies as real prices, in nominal currency terms, hyperinflate.

War is now being normalised. Forever wars, that Trump said he would get us out of. But those oligarchs, mega-merchants, who control the puppet heads of state, need the wars to continue their grift.

Looking at the US, which unlike other banana republics, claims not to be one. Their national debt now exceeds $40 trillion and with interest rates around 5% they need $1.3 trillion to service that debt. It is not $2 trillion yet because when the bonds were issued the interest rate was much lower.

Banana republics just print new currency to pay the interest on their outstanding debt. It is a death spiral for any economy, which is why we saw countries like Zimbabwe spiral into such enormous price inflation, to the point that their paper notes had more value in the paper content than the face value.

But the US is more sophisticated than that. They do two things. Borrow money through the Treasury issuing bonds (a debt instrument) which are initially sold into the market by auction. Secondly the Federal Reserve (a group of private banks) was legislated to have the right to expand the money supply by “printing” currency, which is used to bail out the too-big-to-fail private banks, or to buy the Treasury’s bonds that no one else wants.

And with the US dollar being the world reserve currency whatever the US does affects the whole world. This time it is in a death spiral, but one that is a preplanned demolition of the dollar to inflate away the value of the national debt. That way it would be a sinch to pay it off with devalued future dollars.

This is the biggest con-job of the last century, which really began in December of 1913 with the establishment of the Federal Reserve System, which alone had the right to print US dollars.

In July 1944 at the Mount Washington Hotel, Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, that was put on steroids when forty-four nations created a new international monetary system known as the Bretton Woods System. The dollar was redeemable for gold until President Nixon in 1971 nixed that deal. Only temporarily of course.

Once the dollar lost the gold backing, inflation took off as more currency was needed to keep the bubble expanding. Until it busts!

Ray Dalio Warns “Something Has to Prick the Bubble” and It’s Coming

Ray Dalio warned the exact playbook: you need a shock (oil + tariffs + “geopolitics”) to force rate hikes and trigger the outflows that pop the overvalued market.

That’s exactly how Covid started. First the warnings. Then the event. Then the printing.

In 2019 the repo market seized. Cash disappeared from the collateral system. Overnight rates spiked to double digits. Banks were one broken funding market away from a full freeze. The Fed had to inject cash for the first time since the last crash.

Then Covid hit and they printed trillions. The financial system was already dying. The pandemic bought them time.

It’s the textbook script for engineering the next crisis while they load up on cash and undervalued assets.

Japan’s @yutokanzakireal warned that the “allies”, which is the U.S., is finding a scapegoat like AI, cyberattacks or oil crisis to collapse the current economic order.

All financial crises are engineered by the central banks, IMF, BIS and G-SIBs.

They’re planning something far bigger this time because the condition is worse, not better.
